The FIRST EVER YAG BBQ and Worship Night at NLCF!

Since the BBQ/worship time worked out so well last time, we've decided to keep going with the BBQ/worship combo and will be having monthly BBQs featuring a worship time and guest speaker from here on out. Also because our group has gotten so BIG, we're going to be having it in the social hall of New Life Christian Fellowship Church (thanks to the Mansons for hosting us as long as they did!!). The BBQ will start at 6pm, the worship time and guest speaker (more to come about that) will be from 7pm - 8 pm, and from 8 onwards we'll be playing games (for those who want to) and just socializing. Hope you can make it (and any friends you want to invite too)! Also, for those who want to bring a favorite dessert, please do--we'll provide the rest!

and at the end of the month...

Church of the Highland's Young Adults Ministry member Dan Mitchell (who many of you met at the YAG Christmas party...think 'hungry hungry hippos!') is going to be in a two-man show! YAM is going on February 27th, 7:30pm-10pm to see him preform and planning on meeting at C. of the H. to carpool and getting pizza as well. If you're interested and would like to attend, please let me know ASAP so Dan can reserve tickets--it's a small venue and sure to sell out. At a group rate it it costs $14 per person.

Directed by Meredith Hagedorn

By 1985, this was the most-produced play in the US and you'll see why. It's a hilarious and affectionate comment on small-town southern life & attitudes, but also a withering satire of the same. When set in the intimate Dragon Theatre starring the fantastically versatile pairing of Tom Gough & Daniel Mitchell, you'll see this production done with Dragon's own flair.
Location: Dragon Theatre, 535 Alma Street, Palo Alto, CA 94301

And finally... MOVIE & PIZZA NIGHT at NLCF, Saturday, February 28th from 6pm-10pm, 1125 Terra Nova Blvd, Pacifica

ALSO Many apologies for the lack of connectivity in January...the holidays seemed to have gotten the better of us, but there are many activities in the works, including disco rollerskating night, St. Paddy's day scavenger hunt, volunteering, a beach bonfire/cookout, and, of course, more game nights, so stay tuned!

And, as always, if you are interested in joining a young adult/college age men's or women's Bible Study, PLEASE contact me!

Day after Thanksgiving Potluck/Game Night/General Hang out time at the Manson's

Friday, November 28th
5:30-10:30pm
The Manson's (860 Crespi)

Join us for a YAG Day after Thanksgiving Potluck hosted by the Mansons (and bring your friends too!). There will be eating (of course), game playing and favorite tv show episode watching with home made popcorn, so it should make for an overall fun and relaxing way to spend the day after Thanksgiving. Plus it will be a good way to catch up with those of you who have been away at college.
We're being a little demanding this go round and asking that everyone bring some kind of food to share as well as a favorite tv show episode on dvd or a favorite game (if you don't want to contribute with those no pressure). Also, so we can get an idea of how many people are coming since we'll be supplying drinks, please RSVP as soon as you know if you can or cannot make it :)

Hope you're all having a great November and (early) Happy Thanksgiving!

YAGYAM Shoebox Ministry (Samaritan's Purse) Assembly Night

Pacifica Young Adults Group (YAG) and Church of the Highlands Young Adults Ministry (YAM) are teaming up next Friday night, November 7, 2008 to assemble shoeboxes with toys/school supplies for children in difficult situations across the globe as a part of the Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child ministry.
This will the first of many co-organized events between YAG and YAM, and it would be great to have as many of us YAGgers show up. Also if you can't make it but want to make a donation, or help with the shopping, I'm planning on going to the dollar store next Thursday evening, November 6th so let me know (youngadults.newlife@gmail.com). Each box is supposed to have $7 worth of toys/school supplies, so we'll take any help we can get--if your parents, friends, etc. want to donate a dollar even, it would be appreciated and going to a great cause. As we only recently were asked by YAM to join them in this and they have been planning on doing this for a while, I think they've raised a decent amount of money, but it would still be nice to contribute. We're also planning on doing some icebreakers/games to get to know one another and there will be pizza and snacks. Please let me know as soon as you know if you can make it and let me know if you need a ride. Again, while I realize this is rather short notice, it would be wonderful if a solid group of us could go, as this will kind of be the kick-off of our collaborative work with YAM.
So to recap...

Who: Pacifica YAG & Church of the Highlands YAM
What: Shoebox Ministry Assembly (and Pizza) Night
Where: Church of the Highlands, 1900 Monterey Drive, San Bruno, CA
When: Friday, November 7, 2008 from 7-11pm

Hope you can make it and so excited for the way God is going to work through the collaborative efforts of YAG & YAM!
